Terms of Service

Last updated 7 September 2026

This is the agreement between you and Isomoira. It is written to be read, not skimmed past, because it says some things that matter: what the app is and is not, what joining a household means, and what happens to shared history when one of you leaves.

The short version

Isomoira is a record of what two people share. It reads your bank data; it never moves money, and it is not financial advice.

You must be 18 or older. Subscriptions are billed and refunded by Apple, and cancelling is done in your Apple ID settings.

If you leave a household, the shared amounts stay with your partner. Your name and everything you typed go with you.

1. Who this agreement is with

These Terms are between you and Isomoira (“Isomoira”, “we”, “us”), operated from Texas, United States. They cover the Isomoira app, the isomoira.com website, settlement pages, invite and referral links, and anything else we run under the Isomoira name (together, the “Service”). Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect and is part of this agreement.

The app itself is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That license governs the copy of the app on your device; these Terms govern the Service behind it. If the two ever conflict about the license, Apple's terms win on that point.

By creating an account, joining a household, or subscribing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What Isomoira is, and is not

Isomoira keeps a running picture of shared spending between two people who keep separate finances: which expenses are shared, how they split, and who is ahead. It can import transactions from your bank, or you can enter them yourself.

3. Who can use it

4. Your household

A household is you and, if you invite one, one partner. Invites are codes you send yourself; we never contact your partner for you.

Each account you connect carries a privacy tier that you choose: fully shared, balance only, or just me. Your partner sees exactly what the tier allows, enforced on our servers. Expenses you classify as shared become part of the household's shared record, visible to both of you, along with any comments either of you writes on them.

Leaving. Either of you can leave a household, or delete an account, at any time. When you do, your name and every piece of text you typed are erased. The shared amounts, dates and classifications remain with your partner, because deleting them would rewrite their history without their consent. By joining a household you agree to this; it is the one thing about Isomoira that cannot be private, and we would rather say so here than surprise you later.

We do not mediate disputes between partners, and we do not produce records for one partner against the other beyond the export each of you can already make from your own device.

5. Bank connections

Bank connections are made through Plaid. When you connect an institution you authorize Plaid to retrieve your account and transaction data from it and pass that data to us, and you agree to Plaid's end-user terms shown during the connection. We never see your bank credentials.

You can disconnect an institution at any time from Accounts. We also remove our access when your subscription has been lapsed for 30 days, when you leave a household, and when you delete your account.

Banks are outside our control. Institutions go offline, ask you to re-authenticate, post transactions late, or describe them strangely. We show what they send; we cannot promise it is complete or correct, and we are not responsible for their errors or outages.

6. Manual entries and imports

Anything you type or import is your responsibility to get right. Statement files you import are read on your device and never uploaded; the resulting transactions are stored like any other manual entry.

7. Subscriptions

Manual mode is free. Connecting a bank is the paid feature. Two plans exist, Solo and Couple, each monthly or annual, and one subscription covers a household. Current prices are shown in the app before you buy.

8. Sharing outside the app

Settlement pages. From a true-up you can create a link showing what is owed, containing only the fields you tick. Anyone who has the link can open it, so send it only to the person it is for. You can revoke it at any time from the same sheet.

Referral links. Each household has a permanent link for recommending Isomoira to other couples. It is not an invite: sending it to your own partner creates a second, separate household, and earns nothing. Do not post referral links where they would be unwelcome.

The referral reward. When a household that signed up through your link completes its first paid subscription period, we add 30 days to your own subscription. The rules, in full:

9. What you agree not to do

10. Your content

Comments, notes, memos, names and payment handles you enter are yours. You give us only the permission needed to store them, encrypt them, sync them between your household's devices and show them to whoever the privacy rules allow. We do not read them except with your consent to help with a support request, or where the law requires.

11. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service running, but it is provided as it is, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may pause bank syncing or disable a feature if we detect a security problem, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the Service as a whole, we will give you notice in the app and time to export your data.

12. Ending the agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting your account in Settings; the Privacy Policy describes exactly what is erased and what remains with a partner. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if continuing would put other members' data at risk. If we terminate for a reason other than your breach, we will give you a chance to export first.

Sections 2, 4, 13, 14, 15 and 16 survive the end of this agreement.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law permits, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We are not responsible for decisions you make in reliance on the app's figures, for errors or outages at your bank or at Plaid, or for anything that happens between you and your partner.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, Isomoira will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and fifty U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits; where that is so, they apply only as far as the law allows.

15. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law while using the Service, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal fees, that result.

16. Disputes

Talk to us first. Before starting any formal dispute, write to hello@isomoira.com describing the problem and what would fix it. We will do the same. Give it 30 days.

Arbitration. If that fails, any dispute between you and Isomoira will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Consumer Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. The arbitrator may award the same relief a court could, to you individually.

No class actions. Claims may be brought only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative proceeding.

Opting out. You may opt out of arbitration and the class-action waiver by emailing hello@isomoira.com with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect anything else in this agreement.

Law and venue. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Anything that is not arbitrated will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

17. Apple

Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Any claim about the app, including product liability, consumer protection or intellectual property, is ours to answer, not Apple's. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the license terms in Apple's agreement, and may enforce them against you.

18. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in a way that affects your rights, we will update the date at the top, tell you in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and give you the chance to export and leave if you do not agree. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms. Corrections that do not change your rights may take effect when posted.

19. Everything else

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Isomoira about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stands. We may assign this agreement to a successor that takes over the Service; you may not assign it. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
